Attending:  Steve Bruno, Keith Bloomer, Dawn Porreca Antaya, Lisa Pappas, Jean Barry, Harry Bilodeau, Greg Deroches, Allison Lindgren, Mike Mooty, Kerri Cicione, Eugene Raposa, Elaine Raposa

Old Business

1.      Committee Discussion:

a.       Volunteer Committee has contacted those interested in volunteering.  There is one more person to contact.  Steve will forward info to Lisa.

b.      Activity/Event Committee will be discussed in more detail after the gala.

c.       Education Committee will be discussed in more detail after the gala.

2.      Gala Discussion:

a.       One hundred souvenir glasses have been ordered with a green ribbon and RIODAC in green.  Steve will make poster advertising drink specials.

b.      Auction Items/Gifts have been coming in.  Up to about $1700 in gifts.  $2300 in gifts last year.

c.       Only 36 seats have been sold so far.  About 116 seats sold last year.

d.      Only $260 collected for the raffle so far.  About $460 collected last year.

e.       Volunteers are needed for the event.  These include

                                                              i.      Supply Hut concept was discussed.

                                                            ii.      Centerpiece idea was discussed and shown.

                                                          iii.      Candy Table setup and goodies information was presented by Allison Lindgren

3.      Events:

a.       RIODAC training with NEOB on October 27, 2011 at Kent Hospital.  Names of new volunteers have been provided to NEOB.

b.      RIODAC Gala – November 12, 2011, 6 pm

c.       URI Memorial Union Hall – November 16, 2011, 11:30 am - 1 pm :  No additional volunteers needed at this time.

d.      Salve Regina – November 17, 2011:9 am-1 pm:  Keith Bloomer is coordinating with Student Nurse Organization.  Need a few volunteers.

e.       Bank of America- Lincoln, RI 500 staff office looking for us to staff a table at a health fair. Keith Bloomer is coordinating with their staff.  Still waiting to hear back from BOA.

4.      Logo Contest:  Keith will provide sample rules from RI Blood Center at next meeting.

5.      A new Board of Directors was nominated and elected.  This board will be installed after the Gala.

6.      Advisory Committee:  Could be developed after Gala for December or January formation.

New Business

7.      Events:

a.       URI

                                                              i.      Athletic Events:

1.      Football:  We haven’t heard from the football team so seems to late to make it happen this year.

2.      Basketball:  Maybe we can get on campus for a basketball game.  In the past there were no dates available.  This is a very popular option for many groups.

                                                            ii.      Pharmacy:  Keith to contact them about a presentation similar to last year.

                                                          iii.      Nursing:  RIODAC should contact the Nursing school to see if there is an opportunity to speak in one of their classes.

                                                          iv.      Hair Salon:  May be able to sell green feathers for organ donation in April.  Dawn is coordinating this.
